Compensation: $50/week travel stipend, course credit available
Supervisor: Scott Kitson, Membership and Marketing Coordinator

Overview: Green America is a nonprofit, membership organization whose mission is to harness economic power – the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace – to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.

Green America's Green Business Network® is the first, largest, and most diverse network of socially and environmentally responsible businesses in the country. Comprised of 3,000 businesses, the Green Business Network® is home to both rising social and eco enterprises and the most established green businesses around. We provide the tools, the information, and the consumer base to help businesses thrive in today's competitive green marketplace.

The National Green Pages is our flagship publication, an annual that contains green living editorial and a complete list of every business that has earned the Green Business Certification. Its sister publication is an online directory of our certified business and this internship will work on both.

Description: Members of GBN receive free listings in the printed and online versions of the National Green Pages®. This position will enter listing changes submitted by members (via mail, fax or email), provide technical assistance to members (self-management of listings), and other NGP duties as needed. This position will need to communicate (via phone and email) with members to resolve any discrepancies.

This position will have the opportunity to attend Green America’s Standards Committee meetings, which researches and reviews the social and environmental profiles of green businesses before a business receives Gold level certification. This provides exposure to the challenges of running a socially responsible company and how third parties rate business sustainability practices.
