Green America: Revised Immigration Ban All "Fear and Uncertainty," No Benefit to US

Washington, DC - March 6, 2017 - – As a national leader for an economy that works for people and the planet, Green America continues to oppose the immigration ban set forth by the Trump Administration. “The Trump Administration’s revised immigration ban, announced today, remains unacceptable,” said Fran Teplitz, executive co-director of Green America.

“More than 300 businesses across the country, including members of Green America’s Green Business Network, have signed a coalitional letter opposing the original immigration ban focused on majority-Muslim nations. Modifications to the ban do not offset the fear and uncertainty that will continue to impact communities, businesses, employees, and customers,” she continued.

Green America believes our nation is strengthened by policies that foster inclusion and support diversity. The talent and insights of people world-wide who come to our country enrich our society in countless ways. Clearly we need to create jobs for Americans and broad-based prosperity. We can do this while welcoming immigrants and refugees who have much to offer.

“Public pressure from businesses, legal institutions, faith groups, and many civil society organizations have forced President Trump to change provisions of the immigration ban. The changes do not make the policy any more acceptable or in the best interests of our nation and its values,” added Scott Kitson, membership manager for the Green America Green Business Network.
