You are making the extraordinary happen. During these incredibly challenging times, you and Green America members across the country are leading the way to a green economy and a more just, sustainable world.

Together we are creating large-scale, system-changing solutions to tackle climate change, build fair trading systems, stop corporate abuse, support local communities, grow green businesses and the economy. Here are a few of the highlights of what we have accomplished together in 2010:

• We stood up to the filthiest coal plants in the nation. If we can close these plants, our country will meet 2020 climate goals — without one piece of
  new legislation.
• We’ve brought Clean Energy Victory Bonds to the forefront. By creating savings bonds that families can invest in, our country can finance the roll-out of solar, wind, and energy efficiency — without one penny of tax dollars.
• We exposed the wrong-doing in the banking system. Our “Break up with Your Mega-Bank” campaign has moved millions of dollars out of the big banks and into community investment institutions.
• Our hard-hitting exposés of corporate waste and abuses have brought national and international attention to the airline industry’s poor record on recycling and the cocoa industry’s shameful use of child labor.
• We provided millions of Americans with the resources and information to go green, invest locally, and protect people and the planet.

For more than 25 years, Green America has advanced powerful economic strategies to address the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time. These solutions are proving to be exactly what society needs — now more than ever.

Our nation is desperately feeling the repercussions of a gridlocked Congress and a failed economy, based on greed that sacrifices so many. Our life-support systems — climate, food, water, forests — are in crisis, hurting the people who have the least.

We must speed the way from greed to green. We must push harder to protect vulnerable people and our vulnerable planet.

At the center of these crises you’ll find broken energy, food, and financing systems. To accelerate the shift to sustainability, we need to come together and fix these broken systems.
