evolved from an ordinary bike ride. One day after a storm, Joy took her mountain bike out for some off-roading and ended up covered with Alabama red dirt. Despite many tumbles through the washing machine, the shirt, socks, and shoes remained stubbornly stained by that mud! When Joy and Martin met years later, Martin was intrigued by the strength of that red clay. Where most people saw ruined clothes, Martin saw potential. Armed with his background in chemistry, concern for the environment, and a natural curiosity, Martin began experimenting with the clay as a dye for T-shirts.

That was over 17 years ago. From the first “Dirt Shirt” tinted with that infamous red clay, their company has grown into a full line of organic apparel for women and t-shirts for men, women, and children; dyed in a rainbow of natural and low-impact colors. Boy

The company is proud of their sewing plant in Moulton, Alabama. Joy adds: “Making the bulk of our clothes in Alabama is just one way our company tries to ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’.  Not only does producing in our backyard help to revitalize the community, it’s kinder on the planet. And clothes made in the U.S.A. rather than some overseas location, ultimately lead to a smaller carbon footprint. We are fortunate to have customers who really appreciate this.”

Over the years, earth creations’ mission hasn’t changed. Nature is still their greatest inspiration, and protecting the Earth remains their passion. They strive to create high-quality, eco-friendly clothing in a sustainable manner, and still make it something beautiful that you’ll love to wear day after day. They work to give back to the community in meaningful ways, helping out good causes and supporting environmental efforts.

Martin Ledvina, earth creations' co-founder is excited to be a finalist in the People & Planet Award for Green America: “If we are awarded the prize, we will use it to further our outreach and education about sustainability and clothing produced ethically. We want to thank our customers for supporting our efforts to make the world a better place, one garment at a time”.
