Green America: Growing the Green Economy for People and the Planet

New York, NY

Who We Are

For more than 10 years, Recyclebank, a certified B Corporation headquartered in New York City, has been working toward a waste-free future by focusing on the real-world impact of inspiring and motivating individuals. As the first rewards-for-recycling program of its kind, we introduced the principles of a circular economy to a mainstream audience. We partner with communities and a variety of brands, and leverage our Marketing-as-a-Service (Maas) Platform utilizing data, education and incentives to encourage more than 4 million members to make better purchasing and disposal habits.

What We Do

We encourage small, everyday actions by educating our members how these actions can benefit the environment and reward these actions. We are focused on solving this issue of waste, and some of our members earn points for recycling at home. We make this possible by working with municipalities and the waste hauler that collects your recycling. Other members earn points for learning about recycling through interactive features on our website.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

There’s no single blueprint for creating a waste-free future. But at Recyclebank, we are committed to being the architects for a better tomorrow.

  • Mile Markers: To chart our progress and ensure that we’re always heading in the right direction, we set up yearly check-ins and share our annual year-in-review reports with our partners and members.  We also track the impact that individuals and communities are making based on all of their sustainable actions.
  • Funding Tomorrow’s Leaders: Since 2007, the Recyclebank Green Schools Program has awarded close to $500,000 to more than 150 schools for projects designed to creatively improve their schools. In addition, we donate 5% of profits (around $50,000 a year) from our online shop, One Twine, to the Green Schools Program.
  • Out of the Office, in the Community: Each year, our team members work together on a local community improvement project for Earth Day. Our team members also get one paid volunteer day each quarter to donate their time for non-profit or community organizations that they’re passionate about.
  • Carefully Curated: When it comes to the products we pick for our online shop, One Twine, we make every effort to ensure that they’re good for your home, your wallet and the planet. Working with a wide variety of brands, we only select items that make it through our screening process.

Since 2004, we’ve boosted recycling rates in more than 300 communities, grown to over 4 million members and helped launch new programs in communities all across America. We invite you to become join our growing member-base and vote for us.
