Green America: Growing the Green Economy for People and the Planet

People & Planet
Green Business Award

The green business you nominate may win a $5,000 prize.

Green America is proud to launch the latest cycle of our People & Planet Awards, rewarding green businesses nationwide for their contributions to a just and sustainable economy.

We’ve designed this season's awards to honor green businesses that support your green DIY projects… and we need your help. Between now and January 4 (at 6PM EST), we’re collecting nominations.

Tell us why your favorite small, green business should win. You may nominate any green business you wish, but your nominee must represent BOTH an overall green way of doing business, AND help you take steps to reduce your consumption by making or doing things for yourself -- or by facilitating cooperation with your community.

For example, you could nominate a business that helps you with a home-improvement project, that makes supplies for sewing or other textile arts, that helps you tend your garden, can or preserve food, make your own soap, fix your own bike or household appliance, or somehow either helps you "do it yourself." Use your imagination in selecting a nominee. Please be as descriptive as possible in explaining why your nominated business is good for both people and the planet. [See our rules for more about eligibility.]

From the nominations, our panel of green-business experts* will select 10 finalists.  We’ll share the stories of the finalists, and conduct a run-off vote in February for three winners who will each receive a prize of $5,000. We’ll announce the winners in March

Good luck to all of the nominees, and thanks for your submission!
