Freedom From Oil

Rainforest Action Network, Global Exchange, and the Ruckus Society are the sponsors of the Freedom From Oil campaign, asking auto makers to fight environmental degradation by producing the fuel efficient cars of the future. Consumers are encouraged to send the message to major car producers that there is a healthy demand for fuel efficient and hybrid cars. Ford is the primary target of the campaign, but major auto companies such as General Motors, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Chrysler are being asked to achieve an average fleet fuel efficiency of 50 miles per gallon by 2010.
