Humana says they will save more than 18 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions by joining the Environmental Protection Agency’s new Change the World, Start with Energy Star campaign which encourages people to use energy star products to save money and energy. This placed it on the last tier, in the category of companies to not support.

Humana has violated Medicare rules by misleading beneficiaries saying they would lose benefits under the legislation being proposed by President Obama. Humana was issued a “notice of noncompliance” in October 2009 from the Obama administration because they believed that Humana had violated the “data use agreement.”

The surgery would have cost Humana a half a million dollars, and thus Humana figured its way out of paying for the surgery resulting in the young man’s death. The doctor who would have performed the surgery is now working for a medical ethics program.
