Green America is a nonprofit membership organization whose mission is to harness economic power – the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace – to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.

CREW is a new crowd funding program that Green America is developing in partnership with  It’s purpose is to make it easy for individuals to support local, green businesses and for local, green businesses to get funding.  We are in the final stages before launch and have three major areas of work in order to launch:

  • Qualify businesses:  We need to identify 5 – 10 businesses that are seeking financing and would be willing to be the first businesses to seek funding from individuals when CREW launches.  We’ll be working with the staff and members of Green America’s Business Network to select these companies.

  • Outreach to Community Development Institutions (CDFIs):  Individuals will be able to invest in businesses or in CDFIs who fund businesses.  We have several CDFIs who have already agreed to be on the CREW platform when we launch.  We need to reach out to 5 – 10 additional CDFIs to involve them on the platform.

  • Develop applications:  We need to finalize all of the applications (forms) that businesses and CDFIs will use to put their information on the platform.  Then we need to user test these applications to make sure that they are easy to use and understand on the part of businesses, CDFIs and the individuals seeking to invest in them.

Work with the CREW director to:

  • Qualify businesses to seek funding on the CREW platform.
  • Reach out to the CDFIs to include them on the CREW platform.

  • A passion for social and environmental justice.
