Green America: Growing the Green Economy for People and the Planet

People & Planet
Green Business Award

The green business you nominate may win a $5,000 prize.

Green America is proud to launch the fifth cycle of our People & Planet Awards, rewarding green businesses nationwide for their contributions to a just and sustainable economy.  We’ve designed this summer's batch of awards to honor green businesses that take extraordinary steps to create ethical apparel… and we need your help.

Between now and July 2 (at 5PM EST), we’re collecting nominations.

Tell us why your favorite small, green business should win.  You may nominate any green business you wish, but your nomination must tell us BOTH how your choice is a general sustainability leader AND  how your choice is a leader in ensuring a healthy, green, sweatshop-free supply chain for clothing. The business you nominate could produce natural raw materials for clothing (like organic cotton or wool, or recycled fabrics), could design or manufacture clothing under fair conditions in the US, or could be involved in fair trading relationships with producer cooperatives elsewhere. Use your imagination in selecting a nominee! And please be as descriptive as possible in explaining why your nominated business is good for both people and the planet. [See our rules for more about eligibility.]

From the nominations, our panel of green-business experts* will select 10 finalists.  We’ll share the stories of the finalists, and conduct a run-off vote for three winners who will each receive a prize of $5,000. We’ll announce the winners at the beginning of summer.

Good luck to all of the nominees, and thanks for your submission!
