About Grupo Modelo
Grupo Modelo started in 1925 under the name Cerveceria Modelo and started producing Corona in 1928. The company grew as it acquired microbreweries. In 2006 Grupo Modelo entered into a joint venture, Crown Imports LLC, with Constellation Brands Inc. In addition 50% of Grupo Modelo is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev and Grupo Modelo has exclusive Mexican import and distribution rights to Anheuser-Busch InBev products. Along with Corona, Grupo Modelo produces Negro Modelo, Pacifico, and Estrella.

In 2006 Grupo Modelo, accompanied by around 150 other companies in Mexico, joined the public-private initiative the Mexico Greenhouse Gas (GHG) program, a commitment to fight global warming by reducing GHG emissions. Environmental groups are critical and call the program goal-less, without the possibility to measure the success of the program.
